Geography

Geography is a social discipline that sees people and place together, reads all events, phenomena and activities from a spatial perspective, and tries to understand, interpret and explain the results of human-place interaction.

In geography courses, it is aimed that our students will use the research and presentation techniques used in the formation process of geographical knowledge, as well as comprehend the conceptual and theoretical thematic framework of geography, associate the basic elements of the universe with life, and gain the skills to question and comprehend the functioning and change of systems within the framework of human-nature relationship.

Students with geography courses;

• Gain geographical inquiry skills within the framework of human-nature relationship,
• Relate the basic elements of the universe to life,
• Comprehend the functioning and change of natural and human systems,
• Develop awareness of protecting the spatial values of their country and the world, starting from their immediate surroundings,
• Develop a sense of responsibility for the functioning of the ecosystem,
• Understand the importance of spatial planning for the harmonious coexistence and continuity of nature and human,
• Develop "savings awareness" in the use of natural and human resources,
• Understand the role of environmental, cultural, political and economic organizations that are active at regional and global level in international relations,
• To be conscious of the potential of Turkey, which is a country of geographical accumulation and synthesis, by understanding its location characteristics in terms of regional and global relations,
• Absorb the importance of geographical values in gaining "homeland consciousness".
